About

Northumbria Gems jewellery is handmade from dichroic glass and local natural gemstones set in silver, nature and local landscapes inspiring some of the themes and textures. Art glass affords a wide choice of shape, colours and texture for my dichroic fused glass jewellery and glassware, through fusing and casting techniques. Other natural gemstones include Queensland sapphire, cut and faceted for some one-off pieces. Each material lends itself to beautiful and unusual jewellery.

I handcraft natural gems found among Northumberland’s wild, remote hills, and along our lovely coastline. An interest in gemstones was inspired when prospecting with my family in the Queensland Gemfields, finding amethyst, sapphires and smokey quartz. My father began gem-cutting using our finds, and I continue this family tradition at Northumbria Gems.

My customers...

Since Northumbria Gems was started in 2010 I have been committed to excellent customer service, posting orders across Britain and around the world.

Customers have bought my jewellery and glass for themselves, as gifts for friends or family, and sometimes as a reminder of connections to the region.

My work is handcrafted ethically in the north-east of England. You are therefore buying British when you make a purchase from Northumbria Gems. If you would like to ask more about a particular item, please feel free to contact me.
