Collecting sea glass

Scarlet Pimpernel Whitley Bay Summer 2017

Collecting sea glass

I spotted this tiny scarlet pimpernel flower at the edge of a path on a warm summer’s day, after collecting sea glass for my handmade jewellery. This was a coastal path at Whitley Bay, on the lovely north-east coast of England. The scarlet pimpernel is one of our native wildflowers, and it appears in England during the summer months, around May to September. Author Baroness D’Orczy named her hero after the flower, as it is so easy to miss.

My silver jewellery designs are inspired by history and nature, Northumberland’s wild uplands and windswept coast by the North Sea.
