Black & White Banded British Stone Pendant

A men’s or women’s small round pendant handmade in white and black striped stone, a British gneiss collected by hand in the Northumbrian region of England. This is most likely ‘Lewisian gneiss’, a stone originating in the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. Gneiss typically contains quartz, marble and feldspar as well as other minerals, often in distinct patterns such as these. I have handcrafted the stone using lapidary (stonecutting) techniques, and set the cabochon in sterling silver.
